Senior automation tester

About the role

You’ll decide how the products we build for clients, mostly web apps, get tested, then build the automated suites that do it. You’ll work with developers, project managers and our clients’ teams, many of them in the US.

What you will do

• Work directly with client teams: agree on what “done” means, report on quality, and explain risks in plain words.
• Set the testing strategy for each project, and design test procedures that fit an agile team.
• Build, extend and maintain end-to-end suites in Playwright that run in the CI/CD pipeline.
• Test both front end and back end, including APIs.
• Test manually where automation doesn’t fit.
• Review test code, and help developers catch problems before they ship.
• Analyse and write up test results, with recommendations the team can act on.
• Mentor the testers on the team.

What we look for

• Excellent spoken and written English. You’ll present quality and risk to clients who aren’t engineers.
• Experience in testing, manual and automated.
• Deep Playwright experience in TypeScript or JavaScript, including building suites from scratch.
• End-to-end testing, the page-object model and data-driven frameworks.
• Writing test procedures for agile teams.
• Nice to have: Cypress; Jest, Mocha or a similar unit-testing tool.

You’ll also need

• Experience working remotely, and comfort with remote tools and practices.
• A stable internet connection.
• Comfort working hours that overlap with the client’s working day.
• Experience means paid work on products people use, for clients or at a product company. Course, training and personal projects don’t count.

How you’ll work
